Stratton House, Dorchester Before

In 2014 our clients purchased this extensive site right in the heart of the Ancient town of Dorchester. The site had previously been occupied as Council accommodation for West Dorset District Council who were vacating to take up new modern office space in the Town Centre. Our clients purchased the site completely unconditionally with no Planning approvals except its current use. WDDC had converted what had previously been dwelling houses and substantial Listed Buildings into various offices with the inner part of the site being fully used as car parking with large areas of tarmac. The whole site lay in the Dorchester Town Centre Conservation Area and was virtually all Grade II listed.

We were instructed to survey and itemise all areas of the Site and prepare Planning and Listed Building applications for conversion into residential use. As part of our brief we had to ensure that all works should enhance the existing buildings and site. Needless to say this was a challenging and exciting project which can be viewed in more detail under the Stratton House Approved Layout site plan opposite.
